Pharmaceutical logistics will take centre stage in Munich at an exclusive symposium organised by Air Cargo News.
Timed to coincide with the Air Cargo Europe (ACE) conference and exhibition, the Air Cargo News 90 minute symposium will start at 12 noon on Wednesday May 10 at Forum IV, Hall B2 (West) in the Messe Munich complex.
The keynote address: A pharma logistics outlook, will be given by Dirk De Rooij, commercial director of Seabury Consulting.
The airline perspective: Current and future pharma supply chains, will be made by Alan Dorling, global head, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, at IAG Cargo.
A ‘big picture’ panel discussion will feature Turhan Özen, chief cargo officer at Turkish Airlines; Jonas van Stekelenburg, head of cargo at Schiphol Group; Andreas Sahli, global head of healthcare for Panalpina, and Bernd Struck, senior vice president UAE, at dnata.
The panel discussion will last 45 minutes and is titled: Future Phrama – what is air cargo’s contribution to pharma supply chains and how should the industry develop to cater for the future demands of pharmaceutical shippers?
The moderators are Damian Brett, news editor, Air Cargo News, and Tony Wright, chief executive of Exelsius Global.
ACE is one of the modal sections within the biennial Transport & Logistics event held in the Bavarian capital of southern Germany. This year’s exhibition and conference is held over four days, May 9-12.
Digital and connected
Immediately before the Air Cargo News symposium, is an ACE forum: The age of the digital and the connected – the end of traditional Logistic Service Providers?
The debate, held in Forum IV of Hall B2, starts at 10am and features key note speaker Alexis von Hoensbroech, member of the executive board, products and sales at Lufthansa Cargo.
Other speakers include: Ariaen Zimmerman, executive director of Cargo iQ; David Canavan, senior vice president, network and hub operations for FedEx Express Europe; Sara Van Gelder, cargo development manager for Brussels Airport, and Ralf Morawietz, chief information officer at Panalpina.
On Thursday May 11, from 10am to 11.30am, is a second ACE forum, entitled: Reorganizing sales and customer service to match today’s new customers, will take place at Forum IV of Hall B2.
The speakers are Vladimir Zubkov, secretary general of TIACA; Alexander Arafa, cargo head of area and contribution management at Swiss WorldCargo, and Christian Stingl, vice president business development for CEVA Logistics.
Making cargo talk
At 12 noon on the same day, IATA is holding a debate in Forum IV, Hall B2 (West), called: Innovation in the air cargo industry, making cargo talk.
IATA said: “Track & trace at piece level, sensors & data loggers, RFID, Li-Fi and other wireless technologies are revolutionising logistics.
“It is time for air cargo and air mail to embrace the internet of things to remain competitive and attractive and to address customers’ expectations.”
The moderator and keynote speaker is Celine Horcade, head of cargo transformation, IATA.
Other speakers are Gert Pfeifer, senior IT manager & ISO at Jettainer, who will talk on big data and ULD management. The subject of smart machines will be addressed by Shahzad Aslam, CHAMP core cargo director.
The internet of things applied to air cargo is the topic of Ashok Rajan, global head of cargo business at IBS Software Services
