EVA Air signs B777F components deal with Lufthansa Technik

EVA Air has signed up Lufthansa Technik to supply components for the Taiwan-based airline's new Boeing 777F fleet.

The supply of components for the freighter aircraft includes the repair, overhaul and supply of line replaceable units.

"The availability of serviceable components is ensured via Lufthansa Technik's worldwide warehouses," the company said.

"Inventories for the Asia Pacific region are kept in Hong Kong and Singapore. Customer services for the region, including engineering and logistics, are located in Hong Kong and in close proximity to EVA Air's headquarters."

In addition to the new contract, the Hamburg-based maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) provider is also responsible for supplying components for its Airbus A321, A330 fleets and Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

"EVA Air is one of our key customers in Asia Pacific and we are delighted that the airline has entrusted us with the supply of material for its new Boeing 777 freighters, relying further on the experience and expertise of Lufthansa Technik," says Burkhard Pfefferle-Tolkiehn, Vice President Component Services for Asia Pacific at Lufthansa Technik.

Eva Air took delivery of its first B777F in November. The carrier intends to deploy the new freighter on routes linking its Asia network (which includes Shanghai Pudong, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Hong Kong, Osaka, Singapore, Bangkok, Penang and Hanoi) with destinations that it serves in North America (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta) via a technical stop in Anchorage.

In total, EVA ordered five B777Fs from Boeing in July 2015; the remaining four are scheduled for delivery by September 2019, with the carrier due to retire its five B747-400Fs by the end of that year.
